Rules and Procedures
Eligibility
The Spanish Shipping Awards are intended to honour achievement in the Spanish shipping community. In the case of service awards, non-Spanish companies are eligible but must be demonstrably active in the Spanish shipping marketplace (see below Who can be nominated?). The judges decision on eligibility will be final.
Who can nominate?
Anyone involved in the shipping industry (Spanish and International) is entitled to nominate candidates.
You may, however, only nominate one person or company/organization for each award category. You may nominate for as many categories as you like.
Please read the criteria below to ensure that your nominee is indeed eligible for this category.
Nominations
The Spanish Shipping Awards are adjudicated based on the quality of nominations, not on the number of entries received for any particular candidate.
Multiple nominations will not in any way affect the final decision - the Judges will consider the reasons and not the number of nominations received for each candidate.
All nominations must be clearly readable and the form must be completed in full with your full contact details as well as a one sentence reason for why your nominee merits the award. We shall then contact the nominee and ask them to justify their nomination.
This nomination form may also be completed electronically through this website: click on the Nomination Form link on the side index.
Nominations may also be accepted by a simple fax letter or e-mail, as long as you include all necessary contact information. Clearly state the category of award and nominee, and include a one line reason why your candidate would be a worthy winner.
Important!
iiR Spain reserves all rights to exclude any nomination that is improperly submitted or after the nominations closing date. Thereafter, all decisions made by the independent panel of judges shall be final.

Criteria & Adjudication
An independent judging panel representing a broad cross-section of the Spanish shipping community and impartial experts in the industry will assess nominations and decide the recipients of all awards.
Our distinguished panel will be asked to assess the candidates in each field objectively and to attach most importance to meritorious activity in the last year.
Specific criteria for adjudicating the awards may differ broadly from award to award. Suggested criteria may include, but are not limited to: business success, quality, growth, exemplary initiative, financial results, share price, investment, integrity, service, safety, environmental record, commercial acumen, technical or operational performance, employment, innovation, good corporate citizenship, or any other criteria the panel individually or collectively wishes to take into consideration, depending on the award category.
The judges' deliberations and selections, to be decided democratically, are at their own discretion and the panels decisions are final.
Members of the Judging Panel personally and any companies in which they participate as principals or managers are not eligible for awards in the year of their adjudication.
